Album-oriented rock (abbreviated AOR) was an American FM radio format focusing on album tracks by rock artists. This format developed and popularised the repertoire of music currently associated with classic rock.

For the most part, this type of music was and still is critically reviled as “arena rock” or “corporate rock”.  I’m no critic — this music just connected with me in my formative years.  It’s music that makes you feel good, music to play at a party, music to play on a road trip.    It’s characterized by loud guitars and sing-along choruses you can’t seem to get out of your head — in a good way.  Give me “More Than a Feeling” any day over anything by Radiohead.  This blog is dedicated to the heyday of AOR, from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s.  Come along for the ride.
